South African Police Service (SAPS) spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut said the victims – two men and a woman aged in their late twenties – were found in a shack in an informal settlement in Delft. “Preliminary investigation indicated that the victims were shot and killed,” said Traut. According to the police, the motive for the triple murder is yet to be established and no arrests have been made. Two more people were wounded in the incident. In an unrelated incident, three men were shot and killed in Delft on the evening of Sunday, 3 April. Three men – aged 32 and 22 – died of gunshot wounds after unidentified gunmen opened fire on them at approximately 20:50. On 25 May, another three people were killed in the area and a 13-year-old girl was seriously wounded. “Reports indicate that an unknown number of suspects started firing several shots on the corner of Umvoti and Sabi Streets at 19:05 fatally wounding three persons and injuring two,” said Brigadier Novela Potelwa.
